Reviews and Ratings
The hotel had some room issues like the previous guest's items left behind, a smoky smell after moving rooms, and a noisy air conditioner that required changing. However, the service was a mix of rudeness and excellence. The location had both concerns and enjoyable surroundings. The dining experience varied from overpriced and poor snacks to an awesome hot breakfast facility. Despite its flaws, the hotel had decent amenities.
Over the wedding weekend, the hotel had some snack options for purchase, but they were all out except for beer. The ice machine on the floor was broken, and there were multiple issues. Despite this, the rooms, although not looking particularly clean, were comfortable. The service, from the facilities maintenance staff to the common areas, was a mix of being short-staffed and representative of hospitality, with rude staff and delays in check-in. The location was right downtown, surrounded by restaurants and bars, but appeared to be struggling and under construction. The dining experience varied from delicious to a pleasant surprise with made-to-order breakfast, but also included issues with service and the environment. The hotel offered some facilities but fell short in certain areas.
My stay at the hotel was a mixed experience. The rooms were very comfortable and inviting, complete with a nice jacuzzi bath, but there were still remnants of the previous guest's drinks in the refrigerator and a lack of toiletries and towels. The service was helpful and professional, with lots of amenities within walking distance of the state capitol, but at times, the staff seemed inconvenienced when approached. The location, in the restored King Edward Hotel, was great overall, but I felt uncomfortable leaving due to the area outside. The dining was a pleasant surprise with delicious hot breakfast foods, though quite pricey for the quality. Overall, an average value for the money.
